Vesna Kuzmic is a Slovenian film, TV, and theatre actress.
One of her recent screen roles was as Leonor Fini, an Argentine-Italian surrealist painter from the 20th century, in the film "Through My Eyes." In her home country, she is probably best known for her roles in popular Slovenian TV series such as "Reka Ljubezni" (2018-2019) and "Truplo" (2018-2019).
As a freelancer, she has worked with several theatres in Slovenia, including Mini Theatre and the Slovene National Theatre Maribor. She has also collaborated with Maladype Theatre in Budapest.
In 2019, she won the Best Actress Award for her theatre performance in "The Little Match Girl" at the Mini Theatre in Slovenia, during the 32nd International Theatrical Festival VALISE in Poland.
Vesna displayed her artistic nature from a young age. Her first poem was published in a local newspaper when she was only seven years old. She also enjoyed writing stories and performing for her family. Her passion for acting and film was ignited by her mother, who, as a student, sold tickets at the local cinema and was very enthusiastic about film.
Vesna graduated from the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film, and Television - AGRFT (Slovenia) with a BA degree in acting in 2013 and an MA degree in acting in 2015.
Her genuine love for Russian film, theatre, and culture led her to move to Moscow in the fall of 2015 to continue her acting studies at The Russian Institute of Theatre Arts – GITIS, one of the top Russian theatre schools.
During her studies in Moscow, she performed in Student Theatre GITIS, Obraztsov puppet theatre, The Central House of Actors Moscow, Pushkin House – Museum, and acted in short films collaborating with film students.
In 2017, she earned her MA degree in acting at The Russian Institute of Theatre Arts. Her master's dissertation explored the role of improvisation in the actor’s performance and was later published in the Slovenian cinema magazine KINO!.
After completing her studies in Russia in 2017, she returned to Slovenia when she was invited to portray the character Petra Majcen in the TV series "Reka ljubezni." After five years of many successful projects, she decided to leave her home country again and pursue her acting career more globally. Since 2022, she has been living and working in Madrid. Her latest performance “Mia”, addressing the never-ending cycle of domestic abuse, where she played the title role, was presented in 2023 in Microteatro Madrid.
Vesna also plays the transverse flute. Between 1997 and 2003, she attended the Music School in Postojna (Slovenia) and played in the local orchestra for a few years.
She loves traveling and adventures. After high school, she traveled through Eastern Europe and the Balkans, earning money for her travels by playing the flute and juggling on the street. She also loves studying languages. While living and studying in Moscow, she learned to speak Russian fluently. Besides her native Slovenian, she is also fluent in English and Serbian and speaks intermediate Spanish and French.
