Dragana Varagić is a Serbian actress, director, and professor whose work spans theatre, film, and television across Europe and North America. She graduated in acting from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade, specialized in Shakespeare at the Shakespeare Institute in Stratford, and earned a Master’s degree in drama from the University of Toronto.

Her theatre career includes leading roles at the National Theatre in Belgrade, where she performed parts such as Natasha Rostova, Juliet, Lady Anne, and Elizabeth Proctor. Her stage work is defined by precision, depth, and a sustained engagement with both classical and contemporary repertoire.

Varagić continued her career in Canada, where she has worked extensively as an actress, director, and educator. She has performed in a wide range of productions, from Shakespeare and Strindberg to contemporary playwrights, and has directed theatre projects in both Canada and the region. Her directing work includes productions such as To nije moja priča, Princeza T., Dantes Divinus, and Poslednji dani Jude Iskariotskog, as well as international collaborations including Penelopijada and Kir Janja.

Alongside her artistic work, she has taught acting at the University of Windsor, Dalhousie University, and the University of Ottawa, and has served as a guest professor at the National Film School in Łódź. She is currently a full professor of acting at the Academy of Arts in Belgrade.

Her work has been recognized with multiple awards, including two annual awards of the National Theatre in Belgrade, the “Ljubiša Jovanović” Award, and recognition at Sterijino pozorje, as well as international honors including the City of Toronto Award for intercultural collaboration and a Dora Award nomination.
